DOLLAR STORE SNACKS
This is where I hit up the Dollar Tree and find a bunch of random items to make a dessert snack. The key here is I will keep the budget under $6-7 and it will serve about 3-4 people. Most of the time it something I’ve had a craving for, mixed with something I haven’t tried, combined with another snack that I think would be good.
Apple Cake Cups With Cinnamon Toast Crunch
This week on Dollar Tree Snacks we have Apple Pie Filling, Instant Oatmeal, Yellow Cake mix and my personal favorite Cinnamon Toast Crunch. This meal was just under $4, along with a few other staple items from my kitchen such as butter, salt and whipped creme which is always optional.
So first things first, you want to break down the Cinnamon Toast Crunch into crumbs. This will be the bottom layer of the cake cups. For a half dozen, you would want to use a cup and half of the crumble mix. Set a cup of the crumble aside in a bowl, and the other half cup in a separate bowl. You’ll need the half cup for topping/garnish.
Open the can of apple pie filling, then empty that into a separate bowl. You can strain the extra filling or keep it. Measure out a cup of yellow cake mix and another cup oatmeal. Combine that in a bowl with salt, cinnamon and brown sugar.
Melt a stick of butter. Bring that bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch back so we can prep the bottom layer. Mix in small amounts of butter while stirring until a nice thick batter is formed. Add a couple teaspoons of yellow mix to the bowl as well.
Grab your baking pans. Spray some oil in the cups so they won’t stick. Next layer in a small amount of the Cinnamon Toast Crunch to the bottom of the pan. Then drop a nice layer of the apple oatmeal mix on top.
Preheat the over to 350°. Bake for 15-20mins until golden brown. Let cool and top with whipped cream and crushed Cinnamon Toast Crunch crumbles.

Vanilla Glazed Funnel Brownie Cake Cookie
Back with another Dollar Store concoction. Typically when I thought about the process for this section, I was thinking I would walk around the food section and just select whatever jumps out at me. Which is how this one happen.
This entire snack was made under $8. Not pictured is the dollar eggs and coconut oil. I honestly didn’t know the dollar store sold eggs but you learn something new everyday. The ideas here was to mix to two, yellow cake and brownie together, throw some mini funnel cakes in there and glaze the whole thing.
First I mixed the brownie batter and yellow cake batter together. in separate bowls, Then dropped them into the muffin pans.
This part was a little tricky because I had to keep in mind the size of the brownie cake, so that this could fit on top and the bottom of the brownie cake.
Next step was to cut the tops off to make this brownie cake flat.
Well from the pics and videos, you can see that didn’t happen lol. But I’m happy with the final execution. Its’ still pretty simple, under $10, and one day I might follow through with my original idea. Of course this was half the recipe so Im sure I could have stretched this recipe to feed 3-4 people.
The combination of textures, from the crunch of the funnel cake to the soft moist brownie cake, it’s a perfect bite.
Fudge Covered Gooey Goodness
Honestly that’s probably the best idea for names when it comes to this dessert concoction. Because calling it “Fudge Covered Oreo Stuffed Reese Topped with Chocolate Pretzels” just didn’t fit in the header.
The theme behind this dessert snack is ”Dollar Store” items under $8. Yes, I said it. These were bought at the dollar store under one Alexander Hamilton. You can see the receipt below.
Here I’m taking some of my favorite snacks and making some kind of “mighty morphin super snack”. Creating the fudge, crushing some pretzels, combining some Oreos and Reese and presto you have this wonderful concoction.
